The Propa Eats Cook Up: Port of Spain

The Propa Eats Cook Up: Port of Spain

This weekend, on Sunday, September 1, to celebrate Independence Day in the capital of our country, we hosted our fifth cooking competition at the Queen’s Park Savannah. While the Guardian Community Games were in full swing, One Pot Crew, Annie’s Delicious Delights and Sweet Hand Cuisine bubbled huge pots of pelau, competing to win the hearts of our judges: Chantal (game official from the Guardian Community Games), Thaddy Boom (comedian, nail tech, and spoken word artist) and Zaak Mustapha (blogger of Foodie Tales with Zaak).

PLOT TWIST! Teams were presented with two secret ingredients from Grace Foods: Green Peas & Carrots. But to make this week’s competition even more difficult, we threw in an ‘Ice Cream Sundae Challenge’ using Nestle’s products. This was our most creative, hilarious Mystery Box yet with a breakfast theme. Think bacon, granola and maple syrup. (*Cue an evil laugh.*)

After three hours of preparing pelau and slaws, judges announced the winners. The mother-daughter team Sweet Hand Cuisine came in first, serving our judges their speciality: “3 Meats Pelau”. They took home a huge food hamper courtesy of Multi Food Processors Limited and a 40″ Smart TV from Standard Distributors Limited.
