PRETZEL BURGER BOMB

Yields: 12 Servings

Cook Time: 50 mins

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 pre-made pizza dough
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, or 12 ½-inch cheese cubes
  • ⅓ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg yolk, beaten
  • Flour, for dusting
  • Coarse sea salt
  • Sesame seeds
DIRECTIONS
  1. In a large bowl, mix beef garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, salt and pepper. Roll 12 to 16 meatballs. Press a cube of cheese or shredded cheese into each meatball and then simultaneously roll and enclose it.
  2. Place a large pot of water to boil with a generous pinch of salt. Preheat the oven to 450°F and grease one large baking sheet.
  3. On a floured flat surface cut the pizza dough into the same number of meatballs in step one. Try to make them as even in size as possible.
  4. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough flat. With your hands, stretch the dough over each meatball and squeeze it together to cover any openings. Gently roll between your hands until the ball is smooth and place onto baking sheet.
  5. In batches, boil the bombs for 1 minute. Drain the excess water and place back onto tray.
  6. Brush the top of each bomb with egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds or coarse sea salt. Place into the oven and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown in colour.
  7. Serve warm with condiments.
