PHILLY CHEESESTEAK CRESCENT RING

Yields: 8 Servings

Cook Time: 45 mins

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 tins crescent dough
  • 1 pound flank steak
  • 2 sweet peppers, chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1⁄2 cup cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Oil
  • Salt and black pepper
DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and grease one large baking sheet.
  2. Thinly chop steak and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat a large frying pan with 1 teaspoon oil. Sear steak in the pan 1 to 2 minutes before flipping. Don’t cook the steak all the way through as it will finish cooking in the oven.
  4. Add Worcestershire and soy sauce to the steak. Remove from pan and set aside in a medium bowl.
  5. Sauté onions and peppers in the same pan with oil for 2 minutes. Season with salt and remove from heat.
  6. Place a small bowl upside-down in the middle of the baking sheet. Unroll the tin of crescent strips and arrange the dough triangles in a ring around the bowl. The short sides of the triangles should meet and overlap.
  7. Place the steak on the crescent dough, in a neat ring around the bowl. Repeat with pepper-onion mixture. Lastly, top the filling with cheese.
  8. Carefully remove the bowl from the centre. Lift each triangle over the filling and tuck the end into the centre of the ring. Repeat with each triangle until a ring is formed.
  9. Brush the top with egg yolk, and lightly sprinkle with salt. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Slice and serve warm.
